Run, Jump and Throw - Athletics in International Contemporary Art

On the occasion of the 12 th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™ the exhibition "Run, Jump and Throw – Athletics in International Contemporary Art" will be on display in the Berlin City Hall , known as the Rotes Rathaus. The exhibition offers a glance at the handling of the topic in contemporary art and provides an introduction to the aesthetics of art and sport from the vantage point of various cultures. The works of art (painting and photography) depict individual views and aspects of that which artists from diverse continents associate with the World Championships in Athletics in Berlin. All of the works in the exhibit are new creations and are being presented to the public for the first time.
